This week we did a spring art lesson which incorporated the color wheel.
The mice are too cute!
First we read Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh.
The book is about white mice who get into the paint, and discover color mixing.
Students didn't make the mice version of the color wheel- they made spring flowers!
Our art lesson began with the students cutting 6 pre-drawn petals from white paper.
They then spread the petals out in front of them.
First they had to paint one petal each using the primary colors: red, yellow, blue.
Then it was time to mix colors to create the secondary colors: orange, green, purple.
Using plastic forks and green paint, students made grass along the bottom of their page.
Then a stem was glued on.
They turned out great, and add cheerful spring color to the room!
The flowers look super cute!! But their desks....!! lol :)

A Cupcake for the Teacher
Teri- This is in the art room, where there are full-sized tables covered with tablecloths. I'd never paint in my classroom :)

Great idea I love that they did the primary colours first and them made the secondary colours. What fun!!! Thanks for sharing, I have added it to my ideas.
