My students are having sooo much fun with the Gingerbread Man this week!
Each day we read a different version of the story, then fill in this story comparison chart:
This picture gives a bit of perspective on the size of the chart:
During read aloud/story time I read yet another version of the Gingerbread Man, but we don't really delve into them as much as we do with the versions I read during Guided Reading.
Here are some Gingerbread literacy activities we've been enjoying this week:
SYLLABLE SORTING
Students sorted the gingerbread/Christmas pictures into groups by their number of syllables, then fill out the syllable worksheet.
RHYMING
Students matched picture cards of rhyming words.
BEGINNING SOUNDS
Using letter tiles and/or magnetic letters, students put the beginning letter of each picture onto the mats.
LETTER SORTING
Students sorted through a box of magnetic letters and/or letter tiles and matched them to the letters on the mats.
Be sure to check out our Gingerbread Man math activities this week, too!
