THE MITTEN
The Mitten by Jan Brett is an award-winning, classic winter read aloud for Kindergarten and First Grade. I read this beloved book every winter in my classroom! The Mitten and these corresponding book activities and craft make for fun and engaging literacy learning!
THE MITTEN BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
In The Mitten by Jan Brett, Nicki asks his Baba to knit him some white mittens. He proceeds to play outside and lose one of his mittens in the snow. One by one, forest animals come upon the mitten and burrow inside to get warm from the cold winter weather. The mitten stretches and stretches to allow for each additional creature that snuggles inside, from mole to owl to hedgehog to fox to bear...and more! What happens when a tiny mouse decides to join the animals in the mitten? Does Nicki find his lost mitten? Read the book to find out!
These corresponding activities to go with The Mitten by Jan Brett will provide you with lesson ideas, literacy activities, and crafts for Kindergarten and First Grade. THE MITTEN CRAFT
There are two different crafts included in this pack! One is more simple for non-writers, and the other allows for students to retell the story or write about their favorite part of The Mitten. These craftivities make a great winter bulletin board display, to showcase student learning!
I love The Mitten! We are doing The Mitten after winter break! :)
