THE HAT BY JAN BRETT
One of our favorite winter books, The Hat by Jan Brett, is the perfect read aloud to introduce to students as we head into January! This fun book, paired with these corresponding literacy reading activities, make learning engaging and fun in Kindergarten and First Grade!
THE HAT BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
This book activities unit is packed with activities that foster essential literacy skills, such as story elements, character traits, story retell, writing activities, sequencing events, problem & solution, making text to self connections, and making mental images.
The unit also contains activities that will help your students develop story vocabulary, define the author's purpose, think about the story's main idea or theme, offer opinions and advice, make inferences, deepen reading comprehension, and more!
This book study unit can be used as a whole class activity, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student, and you're ready to go!
This book companion unit will save you tons of time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
This guided reading unit includes lots of activities, so you can differentiate to suit your students' learning abilities and needs.
THE HAT CLASS BOOK
Students will fill in the writing template, offering their opinion of whether or not animals should wear clothes. When completed, assemble into a fun class book. This will be a student favorite in your classroom library!
THE HAT CRAFT
Two crafts offer differentiation for your classroom needs. The first one is a simple fill in the blank template. The second has space for students to write a story retell or write about their favorite part of The Hat. The craftivities make a great winter bulletin board display to showcase student learning.
Your activities look great!!
