This is my new favorite classroom tip:
BUT FIRST
Here's how it all began....
I have to share a classroom, and every year this disappears:
MISSING
This is was my washroom sign.
One side was green & said 'go', indicating that no one is in the washroom.
The other side was red, and said 'stop' indicating that the washroom is in use.
The sign was attached to a string and hung around the door lever. It made it very easy and quick for those needing the washroom to show that the washroom was occupied- it was also a great visual for non-readers!
But every year, for whatever reason, my washroom sign goes missing. Who would want a washroom sign you may ask? Who knows?! But part way through each and every year, it is GONE...maybe someone thinks it makes a great necklace?
turquoise is my new obsession
I hung it on the wall beside our class washroom. Then I took a small picture of each student {that I had left over from our school's picture day} and put a magnet on the back.
Now when students go to the washroom, they take their picture and stick it on the steel washroom door:
Not only can we see that the washroom is in use, we can tell WHO is in there! Awesome!
Of course, my students think this is great fun, and as soon as I showed it to the class EVERYONE instantly said they had to go to the washroom{just so they could move their picture} :)
I love this idea! I am always wondering who is in the bathroom :)

Oooh, I LOVE this idea! It will finally solve the awkward mystery for my students of wondering if someone is in the bathroom even if the door is closed. Thanks for sharing!
