We are on to another round of five literacy work stations.
The groups are doing a great job at understanding what to do, knowing what supplies are needed and where to find them, working together as a group, and keeping on task. YAY!
Name Activity:
rainbow writing classmates' names
Students rainbow write the names of their classmates by tracing over the names using different colored markers.
An EDITABLE version of this activity is available in my September Literacy Centers pack {here}
Writing Books
We're on the next page of our ABC Handwriting Book, made by Michelle Rist {here}.
Students are hunting around the room for autumn words.
They print the words beside the corresponding numbers on their page.
I love how this activity helps to increase their vocabulary every month!

To aid alphabet learning, our book this week is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr.
Activity rotation cards can be found {here}
UPDATE: I have created bundles of month-long literacy centers, to make things easy for Kindergarten teachers!
The packs include literacy activities in these 5 areas of learning:
1)Writing 2)Listening to reading 3) Word work (sight words) 4) Phonics/alphabet 5) Phonemic awareness
The packs are laid out, week by week, for the entire month. They include 5 stations for students to rotate through per week, with all of the components you’ll need for each activity.
Assessment tools are included to help keep learning on track and to keep your students accountable.
Learning is spiraled throughout the month, to help students build on their prior learning.

Hi Anita,
ReplyDeleteWe were wondering how you were able to get the dotted names in your rainbow writing activity. Do you use a special website?
Looks like a great activity, we have about 120 students in total that we'd want to use this for.
Thanks in advance,
Krispin
The dotted names were made using a dashed font. Just Google 'dashed font' to find one you like, then download it onto your computer and create your papers.
