Students sat in a circle. They had a sectioned sheet of paper in front of them. In the primary color sections, there were balls of PlayDoh:
After reviewing the primary colors, they began to mix colors to create some secondary colors.
First they took a piece of red and a piece of yellow Play-Doh and blended them together to create orange.
They put it onto the 'orange' section of their page.
Next they took a piece of yellow and blue and squished it together to create green.
They put it on the section of their page marked 'green'.
Lastly, they mixed blue and red to create violet & put it on their page.

Mrs. J read this book about colorful and patterned fish
and showed some pictures of real fish.
Then it was time to create their own, using black pastels to outline them and paint to fill them in.
They began by using the primary colors
then scooped colors with their paintbrushes, mixing them together to create secondary colors.
Fabulous way to teach the color wheel! Ingenious! How can I get a PDF of your color wheel page? I am teaching this lesson to a class or Kindergartners this Friday....
