Our latest literacy activities had us working on sight words, syllables, letters...and some had a Food-themed twist!
Students had to read, stamp, and write the sight words in their booklets.
I created this pack last August, so it was ready to go as a year-long center!
This pack includes all of Fry's first 100 words. I made booklets by choosing words I wanted to focus on for the lesson.
Find the booklets {here}
Students took out a meatballs with sight words on them. They copied the words onto their sheet, then formed the word out of spaghetti! (yellow yarn)
This great activity can be found {here} from Reagan Tunstall of Tunstall's Teaching Tidbits.
It was fun to hear different versions of The Little Red Hen and compare and contrast them!
Students practiced counting syllables in the animal words and chose a few to make on their worksheet.
You can find a free syllable worksheet {here}
Alphabet Mazes
These alphabet mazes are a freebie I downloaded {here} from Education.com
UPDATE 2016: I have created bundles of month-long literacy centers, to make things easy for Kindergarten teachers!
The packs include literacy activities in these 5 areas of learning:
1)Writing 2)Listening to reading 3) Word work (sight words) 4) Phonics/alphabet 5) Phonemic awareness
The packs are laid out, week by week, for the entire month. They include 5 stations for students to rotate through per week, with all of the components you’ll need for each activity.
Assessment tools are included to help keep learning on track and to keep your students accountable.
Learning is spiraled throughout the month, to help students build on their prior learning.
