NATE THE GREAT
We completed another book study, this time with the mystery genre. My class LOVED Nate the Great! This fun chapter book, paired with these reading activities, helps students in First Grade and Second Grade practice important literacy and reading comprehension skills in a FUN and engaging way!
NATE THE GREAT BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
This book study unit is packed with fun activities that will help your First Grade and Second Grade students with story elements, making predictions, character traits, making text to self connections, author's purpose, main idea, making inferences, vocabulary, writing, giving opinions and advice, problem and solution, story retell, reading comprehension, and much more!
These activities can be used for whole class instruction, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
This Nate the Great book companion will save you tons of planning time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
Want to make sure you are hitting the reading standards for First Grade or Second Grade? This resource includes ELA standards charts for Common Core, TEKS and VA SOL, showing you exactly which skills your students are learning while doing these activities!
NATE THE GREAT CLASSROOM MYSTERY
Instead of our usual Paper Bag Book Club of course I had them solve a mystery in our classroom!
Before school, I laid out all kinds of clues and taped it off with CAUTION tape.
We dressed up like detectives to make it even more fun!
I made my students their own notebooks to document what they saw and to piece together their thoughts and inferences.

Wow! I can tell the kiddos sure have a lot of fun in your room! You've gone back to school already??!! How long was your break??
