After working on symmetry activities {here} it was time to begin some fraction action!
Students had to flip a coin ten times, and record whether it landed on heads or tails.
They tallied their results in the corresponding sections...
then had to add the values of their coin tosses. The could choose to use a nickel, dime, quarter, loonie, or toonie. It was a great way to include money practice as well as skip counting! (by 5's 10's, 25's, 1s, or 2's)
To begin, each student had to make a plan- how many of each topping would go on the slices?
Then it was time to put the plan together...
fraction pizza!
This fun activity is from Amy {here}
