Writing and Peer Editing

One thing we spend a lot of time on in Grade 2 is writing. We write narratives, opinion pieces, informative works, poetry, and more! 

One handy tool that has helped SO MUCH for both self and peer editing are these Writing Checklists!

After the 'good copies' have been completed, I have students self check, then peer edit one another's work. 

I laminated the checklists, and students use a dry erase marker to check off the items on the list that are correct...and put an X on the things that need some attention.

Students LOVE being the 'teacher'! After the editing checklists have been completed, they give the writing and lists back, and the editing process begins. They have some very amazing discussions as they show each other what can be fixed up.
