ROOM ON THE BROOM
Have you read Julia Donaldson's book Room on the Broom? It's a cute book for Halloween in Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade! Your students will love learning new reading comprehension skills and literacy components as they follow the witch throughout the story, making room on the broom for her helpful new friends.
ROOM ON THE BROOM BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
Room on the Broom is about a witch who rides through the air on her broom, when the wind blows her hat off her head. A helpful animal retrieves it for her...and asks for a ride on her broomstick! Throughout the story the witch keeps dropping things off her broom, with helpful creatures returning her lost items and asking for a ride. Is there a lot of room on the broom?
Would YOU like to ride on a broomstick with a witch? Let's make some text to self connections and give some opinions! (That's a NO from me, BTW)
This book works GREAT to teach the concepts of cause and effect!
With this book study, your students will also work on story elements, character traits, story retell, writing activities, comprehension questions, and much more.
This book study unit can be used for whole class learning, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
This companion unit will save you tons of time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
ROOM ON THE BROOM CRAFT
This craft will have students making text to self connections, and is a great way to showcase learning on a Halloween bulletin board.
