GINGERBREAD MAN
Kids LOVE the Gingerbread Man, and every Christmas season I pull out this fun unit to add to our literacy learning in Kindergarten! This book and these corresponding reading activities are perfect for the holiday season in Kindergarten and First Grade!
GINGERBREAD MAN BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
I love using the character cards as the story is read. It's also fun to use them for sequencing the story and for having the kiddos do a story retell.
It's always fun to have students create a recipe for making Gingerbread Men :)
They especially love to describe how they would decorate their Gingerbread Man!
Students can make a picture of the finished product. It's fun to compare and contrast ideas with other students.
Of course, the Gingerbread Man was on the run from those who wanted to eat him. In this fun activity, students can give the Gingerbread Man some (much needed) advice!
The unit includes several comprehension activities to check for understanding.
The 'Story Clues' page has students on the hunt to find answers to the comprehension question.
GINGERBREAD MAN CLASS BOOK
This Gingerbread Man class book activity has students writing and drawing about where they think the Gingerbread Man was headed as he ran away from the little old man and woman. It's fun to see students' imaginations at work! This class book will be a favorite in your classroom library!
GINGERBREAD MAN CRAFT
As a wrap up activity, students complete this sweet craftivity. It makes a cute bulletin board display to showcase learning!
This Gingerbread Man companion unit can be used as a whole class activity, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
The book study unit will save you tons of time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
