CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS
Students LOVE Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett! Who wouldn't love to have the weather forecast be various foods dropping down from the sky!? (um, me) This read aloud, paired with these companion reading activities, will have students in Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade practicing essential literacy skills while having fun!
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
In Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, a grandfather tells the tale of a place called Chewandswallow, where food falls from the sky three times a day. Everyone rushes outside to eat whatever food is raining down. But when the weather is bad, the residents must decide if they should stay in their town, where it is dangerous (and messy!) or move to another town.
This unit for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is packed with reading literacy activities that will help your students with story elements, making text to self connections, problem and solution, giving opinions and advice, making inferences, vocabulary, writing, author's purpose, main idea, reading comprehension, and much more!
The activities can be used for whole class learning, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
This book companion unit will save you tons of planning time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS CLASS BOOK
The unit includes a class book, where students can be their own meteorologists! This student-made book will be a student favorite in your classroom library.
