TURKEY TRICK OR TREAT
Our favorite Turkey is back in Turkey Trick or Treat by Wendi Silvano, a new read aloud perfect for Halloween. Your Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students will love learning new reading comprehension skills and literacy elements as they follow Turkey on his quest to go trick-or-treating on Halloween!
TURKEY TRICK OR TREAT BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
In Turkey Trick or Treat by Wendi Silvano, Turkey and his barnyard friends decide they want some Halloween treats. So they dress up Turkey in a costume and send him out trick-or-treating. Unfortunately his costume does not disguise the fact that he is a turkey, not a kid, so he gets sent away without any candy.
His friends try dressing Turkey in another Halloween costume...which doesn't fool anyone either. They continue on with trying various costumes...until they get to Mable Mayberry's house. You'll have to read the book for yourself to see what Mable does!
I have put together a literacy pack of book activities to go with Turkey Trick or Treat. This book study contains companion activities that help to connect this fun read aloud with important reading skills.
Students in Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade will engage in activities that will help them develop story vocabulary, make text to self connections, recognize problem & solution, offer opinions and advice, define fiction and non-fiction story elements, and show understanding by answering comprehension questions.
This Turkey Trick or Treat book study unit can be used for whole class learning, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
This book companion unit will save you tons of time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
