FIVE LITTLE PENGUINS SLIPPING ON THE ICE
A fun winter book for Kindergarten and First Grade is Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice by Steve Metzger. Students just LOVE how Mama keeps calling the doctor after each penguin gets hurt. It's a great read aloud for counting backwards, too!
FIVE LITTLE PENGUINS SLIPPING ON THE ICE BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
Five little penguins head outside on a winter day to play. They participate in many fun winter activities. The only problem is, every time they do something, a penguin gets hurt!
And every time a little penguin hurt itself during its outdoor winter play, Mama called the doctor. Can you guess what the doctor said? He said that no more penguins should do that activity :)
As a penguin hurts itself, the number of penguins goes down by one. The story begins with five little penguins, then goes down to four, then three, etc. This is a great book tor practice counting skills...and counting backwards!
These reading activities help students deepen their comprehension learning and literacy skills as they interact with Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice. These book companion activities are aligned to ELA standards, while being engaging and fun for Kindergarten and First Grade.
