WE'RE GOING ON A NATURE HUNT
My Kindergarten class LOVED We're Going on a Nature Hunt by Steve Metzger! It became an annual spring read aloud in my classroom. Kids LOVE exploring nature, and can relate to the characters in this book!
WE'RE GOING ON A NATURE HUNT BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
In the story, a group of children head out on a nature hunt. The story reads like the Bear Hunt book, so it's great for teaching sequencing, order of events, and cause and effect elements.
The children in the story venture out, making their way over bridges, through meadows, across ponds, and even up trees. They find wildflowers, frogs, worms, and many other natural treasures.
Lead your students to make some text-to-self connections by asking what are some things they might search for if they went on their own nature hunt.
This book study unit includes graphics for a flow chart, where students can add pictures to what happens next in the story. Then the arrows can be reversed for when the children in the story retrace their steps and head back home.
WE'RE GOING ON A NATURE HUNT CRAFT
This craft is a great writing extension to the book, where students can write about their own nature hunt adventures! Boy and girl toppers are included. It makes a cute bulletin board display.
This book activities unit is packed with Common Core aligned literacy companion activities to go with We're Going on a Nature Hunt by Steve Metzger. It's perfect for Kindergarten and First Grade in the spring!
