ALPHABET BOOKS
Teaching the alphabet sounds simple enough, but there are MANY components to consider. It's not simply about recognizing letters- there are both uppercase and lowercase letters to consider...for all 26! These letters also make sounds (and several make more than one sound!) Then there's printing- how do you form the uppercase and lowercase letters? Suddenly this task just got HUGE!
This is one reason I have created this Alphabet Book. It covers letter recognition, letter sounds, and letter printing, all in ONE fun resource.
The first flap of the booklet is called 'I Can See It!' and focuses on letter recognition. In this section, students match the uppercase and lowercase letters, then cut and paste the letters in the correct spaces.
The second flap of the interactive notebook is called 'I Can Hear It!' and has students finding words that start with the focus letter. They cut and paste the pictures into the booklet. This resource focuses on the short letter sounds of vowels.
The third flap of the interactive notebook is called 'I Can Write It!' and has students practicing their printing skills. Both uppercase and lowercase letters are included. Students first trace the letter on the dotted lines, then make their own in the space with primary writing lines.
