JUNIE B JONES ALOHA - HA - HA BOOK ACTIVITIES & TEACHING IDEAS
Her teacher, Mr. Scary, gave Junie B a disposable camera and a journal. She was to make a photo journal, taking pictures of her adventures and writing about them.
Junie B boards the plane. It's her first time on a plane, so she is not concerned about etiquette :) In true Junie B fashion, she causes both the passenger in front of her AND the passenger behind her to become upset. She coins them the 'grumpy ladies' and takes a photo of them for her journal.
On their first day, Junie B and her parents head for the pool. The pool shop has only one swim ring left, and it's for little kids. Junie B insists on having it and hops into the pool right into the center of swim ring. Only it's way too small for her, and gets stuck tight! They deflated the ring but Junie would not allow it to be cut off of her. So she walked around for days with a deflated parrot around her middle...
The next day Junie B and her parents went snorkeling. Junie was so excited by all of the sea creatures she saw in the water, she kept shouting out to relay what she sees. This scared the creatures away, which upset the other snorkelers. Upon seeing a jellyfish, she became frightened and swam out of the ocean back to the beach.
The next day Junie B went on a tour of the rain forest. They saw flowers, trees, and birds. Mother found a pretty flower and put it in Junie B's hair. Junie B proceeded to cover her hair in the flowers. Unfortunately, these types of flowers are a food source for a type of bird in Hawaii. A bird flies into Junie B's hair, and gets tangled in it! Another great shot for her photo journal :)
Junie B got her photos developed and added them to her photo journal. It was a vacation to remember!
