THE PIGEON FINDS A HOT DOG
In Mo Willems' book The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog, our favorite bird friend is having a lucky day. Pigeon finds a hot dog lying on the ground, and apparently Pigeon LOVES hot dogs! Your Kindergarten and First Grade students will love this fun read aloud, and these book companion activities will help them practice essential literacy and reading comprehension skills as they dig deeper into the story.
PIGEON FINDS A HOT DOG BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
Duckling has questions about the hot dog. Namely, what does a hot dog taste like? Pigeon goes on to describe the deliciousness that is a hot dog. Then Pigeon goes on to insist that it is HIS hot dog, because finders-keepers, and all that.
Duckling sure makes Pigeon crazy as he asks more questions about the hot dog, making is seem as though he's never had one before. (Or has he?) He also makes Pigeon feel a little bit guilty for wanting to eat the whole thing by himself.
Pigeon is tired of answering Duckling's questions about the hot dog, yet is resistant to share it. It would alleviate the questions, however it would cost him part of his yummy find.
Finally Pigeon relents. He shares the hot dog with Duckling. Duckling seems to have had one before, as he notes that it needs mustard...
