THELMA THE UNICORN BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
Thelma was feeling sad because she really wanted to be a unicorn! Her best friend, Otis, told her that she was perfect just the way she was. But she refused to believe it.
Thelma tied a carrot to her nose to make her look more like a unicorn. A truck carrying pink paint and glitter drove by and the driver thought he was seeing a unicorn...causing the truck to swerve, and the paint and glitter to go spilling out, right onto Thelma! It made her look just like a unicorn.
She became famous! She had people call out to her, try to take her picture, and follow her everywhere. All her dreams came true- but it was at a great cost. She was never left alone. She was chased wherever she went. Some people were not fans, and they were cruel to Thelma.
She had enough! Thelma washed off the paint and glitter and became her regular self again. She was much happier now that she didn't have to pretend to be something she wasn't. She just wanted to be herself!
