I LOVE MY FANGS
I Love My Fangs by Kelly Leigh Miller is a great book about wiggly teeth, for kids in Kindergarten First, Grade, and Second Grade. The book is about young Dracula, making it a fun Halloween read aloud!
I LOVE MY FANGS BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
Dracula has two pointy, sharp fangs. He is very proud of them! They are a family trait, after all :) Dracula takes good care of his fangs, brushing and flossing them daily. He is very proud of them!
So Dracula is devastated when one of his beautiful fangs becomes loose and falls right out. He tries his best to push it back in, but to no avail. He cannot be a vampire with only one fang!
Dracula tries his best to get his fang back into place. He uses tape, string, and even a piece of bubble gum. Nothing works.
Dracula is so distraught that he hides away from others. He covers himself up in his bed. But that night, as Dracula is sleeping, he receives a visit from the Tooth Fairy! The Tooth Fairy takes his fang. What does she think she is doing?! Dracula chases the Tooth Fairy all over, trying to retrieve his fang.
Dracula's parents explain to him that it is the Tooth Fairy's job to collect baby teeth. She takes the baby teeth so that he will be able to grow strong adult teeth. So Dracula lets the Tooth Fairy take his fang. Soon Dracula grows another fang. This one is even larger and more pointy and sharp than the other one. He is so proud of it, and cannot wait until the other baby fang comes out.
I have created a set of book study activities that help to connect this engaging read aloud with important reading skills.
Your Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade students will have fun with this Halloween book while engaging in fun reading activities that go along with it!
This book study is packed with activities that will help your students work on story elements, character traits, story retell, writing activities, vocabulary learning, problem & solution, making text to self connections, show understanding with reading comprehension questions, and more.
This I Love My Fangs book study unit can be used for whole class learning, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
The activities in this literacy unit are aligned with Common Core, TEKS, and VA SOL learning standards. Checklists for these standards are included in the unit.
This book study companion unit will save you tons of time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
I LOVE MY FANGS CRAFT
This craftivity makes a great Halloween themed bulletin board display to showcase student learning! Students can make this craft to write and draw a story retell, or illustrate and write about their favorite part of the story.
