GINGERBREAD BABY ACTIVITIES
Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett is a fun twist on the Gingerbread Man story. Matti and his mother decide to make some gingerbread one cold winter day. Matti couldn't resist a peek into the oven before it was ready. He opened the oven door to reveal, not a gingerbread boy, but a gingerbread baby! And of course, it jumped right out of the open oven door and ran away!
The Gingerbread Baby ran from Matti, his mother, and his father. He escaped out the front door and into the yard. The chase was on!
The story continues with the Gingerbread Baby running from many different characters that decide to give chase.
While this is going on, Matti returns home to bake some more gingerbread. He is baking something to capture the Gingerbread Baby. What could it be?
The Gingerbread Baby is pursued by a large number of people and animals. But what is that he sees ahead in the clearing as he runs through the woods? A gingerbread house! The Gingerbread Baby is excited, and he runs right inside.
By the time his pursuers reach the spot in the clearing, there is just a bunch of gingerbread crumbs on the ground. They all assumed the Gingerbread Baby has met his match and was eaten up. They all went home. Meanwhile, back at home, Matti peeks inside the gingerbread house he made. What do you think was inside?
