KINDERGARTEN LITERACY JOURNAL
When teaching Kindergarten, I made these sweet little literacy journals for each student. They were perfect for practice of many Kindergarten literacy skills that needed to be covered during the year! The literacy journal activities were a quick way to show me which students had the skills mastered, and who could use a little more practice :)
These Kindergarten Literacy Journals include several pages of letter matching, to work on alphabet letter skills. There are lowercase letters to match to uppercase letters, and uppercase letters to match to lowercase letters.
Letter charts have students filling in the missing letters. There is an uppercase letter chart and a lowercase letter chart. Before and After pages have students reflecting on the alphabet's sequence of letters.
This Kindergarten Literacy Journal includes activities where students think about the first sound they hear in a word and what letter makes that sound. It also includes activities where students think about the final sound they hear in a word and what letter makes that sound.
There are pages for students to count the syllables in the words, and pages where students will sound out and write CVC words.
Rhyme Time has students thinking about words that rhyme with a given word. Missing Vowels has students stretching out CVC words to determine what vowel sound is missing. ABC Order has students printing a list of CVC words in alphabetical order.
