This resource is packed with learning standards based spelling and word work activities that will have your students actively engaged as they hunt around the classroom for words!

These Write the Room activities help promote active learning! They will have your students moving around the classroom with purpose, as they look for words to work with. And we all know students who would benefit from occasionally learning outside of their desks :)

The first activities in this Write the Room word work resource has students looking around the classroom for words that contain specific spelling patterns. This includes digraphs, blends, long vowels, short vowels, vowel teams, prefixes, suffixes, y as a vowel, compound words, contractions, and more!

Another group of activities in this resource has students recording words that they find in a fun and engaging way. This includes having them use various writing tools like pens, markers, stamps, magazine letters, highlighters, crayons, and more.

Another section of this Write the Room resource has students recording their findings in a certain way. For example, they may have to write the words backwards, in ABC order, using fancy letters, by word type (like verb, noun, etc.), by syllables, by number of letters in the words, and more!

The final section of Write the Room activities has students using the words that they find in a practical way. For example, making sentences, illustrating the words, using the words in a story, and more.
