MERRY CHRISTMAS SPLAT
The holiday read aloud Merry Christmas Splat by Rob Scotton allows students to join Splat the Cat in his holiday festivities. Splat is eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival (especially for his presents), and your students in Kindergarten and First Grade may be able to relate to the main character at this time of year :)
MERRY CHRISTMAS SPLAT BOOK ACTIVITIES & TEACHING IDEAS
Splat the Cat is getting ready for Christmas! He excitedly writes a letter to Santa, asking for a big present. Splat's little sister reminded him that he had to be good in order to get presents from Santa. That left Splat wondering if he had been good enough. He spends the day doing 'helpful' tasks around the house, hoping he's being good. Will Splat find any gifts under the Christmas tree?
To complement this Christmas book and further enrich your students' literacy learning experiences, I've created a comprehensive teaching resource tailored specifically for Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms. This resource is packed with activities designed to enhance comprehension, foster creativity, and promote literacy learning.
These guided reading activities encourage critical thinking about the story, work with the story's vocabulary, and deepen comprehension skills. The activities also reinforce writing skills, allow students to make text to self connections, give opinions and advice, make inferences, do a story retell, and more!
This Merry Christmas Splat book study unit can be used as a whole class activity, during small group reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
MERRY CHRISTMAS SPLAT CRAFT
This Merry Christmas Splat craftivity has students writing a story retell, recounting their favorite part of the story, or writing a narrative about their own Christmas presents. The craft makes a great holiday bulletin board display, to showcase student learning.
