Freckle Juice by Judy Blume is a fun read aloud during the school year! Students love Andrew and his desire for freckles, and the way he gets them :) This entertaining story, paired with these book companion activities, will help students in First Grade, Second Grade, and Third Grade practice essential literacy and reading comprehension skills in a fun and engaging way! The Freckle Juice craft is a great wrap up activity, and can be used as a bulletin board display, to showcase student learning.

FRECKLE JUICE BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS

Andrew wants to have freckles like his classmate Nicky. That way his mom can't tell if he's washed his neck or behind his ears :) Sharon tells Andrew that she has a secret recipe for Freckle Juice, but it will cost him 50 cents. The recipe is a mixture of various foods that should not go together, and needless to say it doesn't work (and makes Andrew sick). So Andrew uses a marker to draw freckles all over himself. The teacher has Andrew wash them off, and reassures Andrew and Nicky that they are wonderful just as they are.
